Lesson 1: Be Prepared

8% battery life, stranded, no water.

So...be prepared for a series of blogs that allude to Disney. I am somewhat suffering from Disney withdrawal. My Disneyland pass expired this past weekend, and yep...you don't know what you have until it's gone. But it's okay! Incomparable GLORIOUS treasure awaits us in heaven!

Today's lesson of the day: Be Prepared

Snapshots of my life can usually be found through my Instagram...and because my most recent happening was just so...fail...I wanted to expound on it in a form of a blog. Reflect and drill it in: Be Prepared.

The weather today was utterly FABULOUS. Sunshine California weather with a light, cool breeze. Aldrich's trees reflected the perfect hue of green to soothe the soul and enjoy life but with just enough vibrancy to also give life and vigor to stimulate uncharacteristic urges of the mind/body to perform physical activity.

Running. Yes, it's been on my mind since New Year's resolutions. Yes, it's been on my mind before I was hit the benchmark 21. Yes, it's been on my mind since after I turned 21 and made a promise to be more healthy. And no...things never go as planned sigh. Just like today, things didn't go as planned...SO WE MUST ALWAYS...Be Prepared.

Egg-cited to frolic where ever my feet take me, I decided to drag along a friend to enjoy the late afternoon. I convinced my 1/2 accessory...just kidding, my GOOD friend, Eric(a) to accompany me on a run at Back Bay. My dear friend Bethanie had recommended it a while back. Since it was close and the view would be gorgeous, and Yelp reviews were top-notch, we headed down...down by the baaaay, where the watermelons grow. Just kidding, there weren't watermelons. If there were, they'd be saltwatermelons. Because the bay is saltwater. Haaaa.

Super pumped up, we started our run...not knowing the distance was often used for 1/2 marathon trainings. Note to self: Read the entire Yelp review before jumping to conclusions. <-- Perhaps another post on reading directions beforehand. I tend to work backwards.

Spectacular!

Okay back to the story. I end up stopping every 10 minutes to take a photo. The scenery was breathtaking! All this in my backyard for 3 years and I never visited. (Well, last time I was here was for high school APES...I went kayaking in the rain, fell into the water, forever held a grudge against kayaking.) Eric ran ahead...AND HE NEVER CAME BACK FOR ME. So scratch off GOOD friend. BAD Eric, just kept running, just kept running (See what I did there?). The run started to get super lengthy so I decided to ask a couple walkers how long the path was. 12 miles (didn't read the entire Yelp review). And then my batteries started running out (because I used it up playing LINE Pop all day). And then I found out Eric didn't bring his phone (so I couldn't contact him). And I had no water on me (because Eric was carrying it). -___________- Definitely was not prepared for this. PANIC. I freaked the leak out because I didn't know if Eric was going to ever come back...good thing I wasn't hopeful...BECAUSE HE DIDN'T (RANT RANT). But thank God, with the remainder of the battery life, I was able to contact my GOOD friend Bethanie (thank. you. so. much. for dropping your errands to come save me lol) who happened to be in the neighborhood. She was pretty much parallel to my stranded location, but had to loop around because the path was a one way...by God's grace, she came to the rescue before my phone died. Then we located lost boy Eric wandering on the surface streets after the path ended. What the crazies.

But like all Disney movies, we shall have a happy ending. Eric and I made up over Sprinkle's ice cream. And we beat the 7 PM crowd. YEE.

So yes, moral of the story: Whatever road you journey...where ever life takes you...Be Prepared.

PS. Hi Eric. If you're reading this, I was ROFLMAOing at the Sprinkle's cashier because when the lady called your name, she said "Erica."

Afterthought:

Perhaps it'll be a lesson to always be learned, time and time again...but don't not do anything about it.
